Celebrate World Vegan Month this November

The Vegan Society has been celebrating World Vegan Month every November since 1994. Today the plant-based movement is huge and Deliveroo reported demand for their vegan options has risen by 105% since last November.

This year World Vegan Month aptly coincides with COP26 (UN Climate Change Conference) where the message is clear, we need to act now!  One of the most effective things we can do as individuals is to take a look at our diets as the meat and dairy industry have a massively harmful effect on the environment.

Eating less meat or cutting it out entirely offers many benefits for the body as vegan food is cholesterol-free. The meat industry is accountable for up to 60% of greenhouse gases from food production with beef being particularly harmful as cows produce methane which is released into the air.  Rearing cattle requires massive amounts of land and water which leads to deforestation and many species of animals and plants facing extinction

Adopting a vegan lifestyle is a personal choice and we are very lucky to have so many tasty plant-based options and swaps on the market to try. Coffee shops including Pret offer plant-based milk for no extra cost, vegan chocolate bars are just as tempting and have you even lived if you haven’t had a vegan sausage roll from Greggs?

Thankfully the fashion industry is also waking up to their destructive impact on the environment and adopting sustainable production methods. Hobo & Hatch have been an ally of this movement since day one and will continue to do whatever we can to preserve our planet and ask you to join us.
